Do you allow kids, spouses, partners, or other family members to take part in lessons?
At K9ology we believe the more people are involved in raising the dog - the more you will have consistency and get the results you want. We are happy to welcome family members to join in on lessons. Children of all ages may come for private lessons. Respectful children 8 years and up are welcome to assist in training with the assistance of a parent or guardian.
If I miss a lesson in my group class, can I make-up the lesson in another?
We are happy to schedule a private lesson at a discounted rate of $75 to cover any materials missed in a group class. Make-up lessons are not mandator, but optional. Owners must attend at least 4 of 6 lessons or 3 of 4 lessons in order to graduate from group classes.
Does my dog have to be spayed or neutered in order to participate in training?
NO! We will not refuse service just because your dog is intact. We welcome male dogs with their full equipment, and females as long as they are not in heat. Please see below about bitches in season.
My female dog just came into heat, what do we do?
If you are enrolled in a private program, we may be able to pursue training as long as your dog will tolerate wearing a diaper and/or is not experiencing temperament changes. If your dogs is a group class participant, we are happy to work with you on alternate training arrangements. Females in season are not permitted to be in group class or activities until more 21 days after the onset of heat.
I have joined a group class, but it's not an ideal training environment for my dog. What do I do now?
Due to our small class sizes we do not issue refunds for registration of group classes. If you are not sure if your dog is a good fit for a group setting, make sure to take our Group Class Assessment prior to signing up. Sometimes hindsight is 20/20 and things don't work out. In this case we are happy to transfer part of your group tuition towards a custom private program that better suits your needs.
Can I enroll more than one dog in training?
Yes! In private lessons we are happy to work with multiple dogs from the same household at no extra charge! For group classes, dogs must be individually registered in order to participate. Looking for a semi-private option for yourself and family or friends? Contact us to get a quote!
Do you offer a guarantee?
Like any skill, animal training and behavior modification demands a lot of time, patience, consistency and practice. At K9ology we firmly believe that training the owner is a vital part to a successful training program. We cannot force you or your family members to do the work (although we will remind you on a regular basis). If you do not practice - you will not get results. Our methods are based on simple and effective principals of conditioning. Due to variations in owner commitment we cannot provide a guarantee of results. Training really is a group effort.
Do you offer home training lessons?
We are happy to come to your home if the training goals are not conducive to our facility. Spaces are limited and booked on a case-by-case basis. Please note that we will apply additional travel charges based on service location.
What payment methods do you accept?
We are happy to accept cash, check, or credit card payment. We can process your card at your first private lesson or send you an invoice in advance via Square or PayPal. For group classes, payment will be taken via our website or by phone.
